First day will be at clinic location Unit 4, 353 Home Street Stratford, ON N5A 7L5 Canada Following 2 days will be spent on a farm about 1 hour outside of Stratford. Typically offered 3x/year.

Target Audience:

This workshop is geared to dairy producers or herds people who want gain a better understanding of trimming and treatment techniques for common lameness problems

On first day the theory behind hoof trimming is delivered using a interactive lecture style. In the afternoon of the first day participants will practice hoof trimming on cadaver feet. On 2nd and 3rd day participants will be practicing trimming using real cows in either a manual or hydraulic hoof trimming chute.

Using a combination of lectures (1/2 day) and trimming on both dead and life feet participants will leave the workshop with a working knowledge of hoof trimming. Participants will learn the theory behind functional trimming and then spend the next 2 days practicing the technique and learning how to treat commonly occurring lesions on lame cows. The goal of this workshop is to allow producers to fix their own lame cows and if desired do their own preventative maintenance trimming. Participants at end of course will be familiar with both hand and power tools and common treatment methods.
