Programs offer unique exposure to concepts of evaluation that emphasize the interrelationships between biophysical, human and cultural resources. A broad array of research methods, projects and practices are explored, equipping students to be leaders in rural and urban communities. Land use planning is an important component of some of these programs, with an orientation to bio-physical processes and their application for land use planning at regional and local scales. Many programs in these areas of study are professionally accredited and recognized worldwide. The human element of society is paramount, preparing students with teaching techniques, interpersonal communications, technology transfer approaches, communication technologies and international extension programs. These programs are open to qualified graduates from a wide variety of disciplines including agriculture, home economics, sociology, communication, education, health, medicine, and economics. Opportunities exist in these areas of specialization at both the MSc and PhD levels.
