The Intended StudentDevelopment of this course in an online distance education format provides modules or components that could be used to provide a technologically-enhanced learning environment for regular students, but more specifically it will meet the needs of:on-campus students who need scheduling flexibility those beginning their degree in their own community mature learners wanting to be up-to-date in relevant or emerging fields those seeking qualification for professional status (P.Ag., P.Geo., etc.) those interested in the “environmental,” “sustainability,” “integrated land use” and “human well-being” subject matter.

The course is composed of four units comprising three to six weeks each. The final unit will be almost entirely devoted to a project on community food security, which will help you to apply the main concepts of the course. Each unit is structured with the objective to keep you involved in a dialogue with the topic, with the course content, readings, and video materials, with the instructor and with fellow students working asynchronously on the unit by means of discussion forums on the course's web site.
