3 year Diploma - The Faculty of Thompson Rivers University's (TRU) Animal Health Technology program is very pleased to offer an exciting, new training option for potential Animal Health Technology students. Our first registrants into the program enrolled in January, 2005. The TRU AHT Distance Education (AHTDE) program will allow a student located anywhere in Canada who is already working in a veterinary clinical setting to achieve their goal of becoming an Animal Health Technologist. This will be achieved by a dynamic partnership of TRU AHT course instructors, a supportive veterinary employer willing to provide clinical instruction and a student who is a self - motivated, independent learner. The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association Animal Health Technology/Veterinary Technician Program Accreditation Committee views our Thompson Rivers University Animal Health Technology program as a fully accredited program delivering training in two methods - on campus and by distance.Graduates of our program will be eligible to write the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). Upon successful completion of the VTNE, graduates can then apply for Registered Animal Health Technologist (RAHT) status with their provincial Animal Health Technologist/Veterinary Technician association. We are pleased to announce that our first graduating class completed the program in December, 2007 and the students have written the VTNE in January, 2008.
