3-day course will review the safe handling of pesticides and the use of low toxicity products. There will be a strong emphasis on Integrated Pest Management and non-chemical methods of control for problems caused by insects, diseases and weeds. Topics covered will include understanding labels, environmental safety, protective equipment, many practical problems for calibration, and slide pictures for diagnostic of different pest problems. The course will be of interest for persons using pesticides in a workplace, selling pesticides, or seeking employment with farms, landscape companies, pest control companies, forest companies, nurseries, or garden centres. It will prepare candidates for the provincial examination for the \Pesticide Applicator Certificate\" or the \"Pesticide Dispenser Certificate\". Before the start of the class, participants must purchase study books from the Office Products Centre at 1-800-282-7955. Order study books in the appropriate category (agriculture, landscape, forestry, structural, dispenser, etc.). Allow one week for delivery."
